Those were just incredibly buffed regular pokemon which you would overcome either by brute force or with some cheese via smoke screen / protect / agility / etc. Imo that's much more engaging than any other boss of the franchise, especially the legendaries from RB. It depends a lot on what team you have, but you should be good-to-go if you have decent type coverage. However, play smart positioning around their AoEs and know what calculated risks you can take, and the boss will eventually go down. The way the bosses work now, with their high damage AoE attacks, also strongly counters large amounts of pokemon, so good damn luck trying to keep alive an army of 8 mons, 5 of which you can't even control. Mind you, I think that in Super Mystery Dungeon the items like wands and orbs and dozens of revivers were an absolute must-have and I hated that, but I didn't find that to be the case in RTDX. While the raw difficulty may vary depending on how much you exploit all the boosting tools the game throws at you (as you said Dojos, Gummis and boost drinks), I didn't find items to be a necessity beyond a few Oran Berries and a few Reviver Seeds to be safe.

Huh, I've had quite a different experience when it comes to the bosses and item usage. Im looking forward to going back to it at the end of day when I finish my homework. I'm generally a little negative on my thoughts but I will say that I would not spend almost 18 hours beating a game I do not enjoy. If you do not play optimally casual you might have a better time because those moments can create tension.

If I did not play the previous game I can see this being a challenge because I have to learn a bunch of new systems (which we can see from new people in this subreddit) but for previous players of the game who deep dived into the old systems, It will 100% be an easy breeze if you just stack Reviver seeds, Apples, and a PP Rare ability. If you were casual you could get through every piece of content you desired. You could maximize the system you were hardcore. It just means that the original systems they had in place had its niche for hardcore players and niche players alike without even realizing it. Overall the original tension from before is not there but that does not mean I did enjoy myself. In DX I got to MT blaze without any issue and even then I could have overcame that if I just had the items from my bank If went back to the original I could probably get to Mt Thunder where I would naturally die because of my level difference and lack of items. You could beat the game previously with minimum items and smart game sense.

The story is about overcoming when odds are bleak to believe you can do it without anything but your will power. So, in the end, you come out with an experience that is, unfortunately, a step-down from the original. In DX those items have now been made the forefront and essential to use and easy to obtain. In the old games, those items were scarce enough to put a value on them. In the old version though we didn't need items in order to overcome them was an option. What this did was allow us to learn and importantly give us the basic XP advantage to overcome an obstacle. The original was harder because we knew nothing about the game so we died a lot and I mean a lot. Before, I lost everything and I am not sure what I would have done to beat that section.

Was not intuitive, I just won objectively. Took like 80% reduced damage all of my teammates died except me and was able to watergun the boss down. You know how I beat it? Empowerment Seed. I only died once at the top of MT blaze because I didn't bring all my reviver seeds. The number of ways you can increase your stats in DX is also insane whether it is dojos Gummis or other stat enhancing items. Before you could that but nearly as fast as you can do now. As long as you have Apples Reviver Seeds and a PP ability. that makes that battle a joke and there have already been memes. TBH the early game suffers from a Zerg problem where you can do an 8v3 when before it was an 2v3. I just completed the main story so I have a little bit of knowledge about the game.
